The commercialisation of the modern world is as alive in Rio as it is anywhere else. The subtle elegance of decadent dreamers and romantics seem far away. The chaos of poverty and favelas is in the middle of the vast metropolis. Gunshots and bombs a far too big picture of everyday life. The Rio of the sixties is long gone. You yearn for Bottles bar.... Everyone knows about Garota deIpanema restaurant in the alleys beside Ipanema Beach. But it's neighbour across the street is not as known. But it's a haven for us escapists.
