Word up for the first lady of modern bossa nova. Joyce Moreno, earlier just "Joyce". A constant influence of mine and has been ever since i discovered Brazilian jazz.

When Bossa Nova can seem like old news, destined to be pure "record-listening" music, she somehow manages to keep it alive, fresh and up to date. She's always touring the world and always releasing new records.

Her website is in my Top 10, in design and in content. When watching ANY documentary of Brazilian jazz or Bossa Nova, Joyce will be there, saying something intelligent and needed. My all time favourite quote by Joyce Moreno is:

"Bossa Nova represents what the country of Brazil SHOULD HAVE BEEN."
